Coping: This is Who We Are

Our mental illnesses are part of who we are, and no two journeys are ever the same. Above you’ll find our stories of lowest points, realizations, coping strategies, and where different people are currently at in their life. For most of our lives we’ve felt we are broken, and therefore:

we must be broken.

But this is who we are. Two sides of the same coin. Hear the uncensored and honest stories of those willing to share.

  1. Great personal collections / collab site. It’s so easy to forget about community. Let me know if you want to collaborate.

Love some of your lyrics. I’ve been listening to Sleep Season for about half an hour. Ghosts is my favourite.

  2. Dear Hope,

It’s amazing how two people who have never met have experienced so many of the same things – I don’t want to pour my heart out to you here, but you should know that you are amazing, you have and will accomplish wonderful things, and you are not alone. Thank you for sharing your words and your stories. We could all use a little hope.

  3. I could not agree more with the ethos here. Community, openness and sharing for understanding. My niece inspired me to start opening up about my mental health as I started realising how it affects absolutely everyone and as the first person I’ve felt truly responsible for, I never want her to feel alone should she find difficulty as she’s growing up and beyond. You’re really doing great work.

I post quite a lot about mental health myself @ laurend0uglass.wordpress.com

    1. I am sincerely honored to receive the nomination but I read through your post and saw that the award is for people with under 200 followers. I passed the number about a month ago now so I don’t think I’m elligable for it unfortunately!

    1. Thank you =) I know you said this isn’t really you, but always feel free to point people in this direction who are fighting anything. Or if anything, spreading the word to destigmatize mental illness!

  4. Thanks for liking my latest post! It’s weird because I was recently diagnosed with anxiety and depression and am still struggling with many things but it was really nice reading through your blog and finding a community that doesn’t ostracize. Thanks.

  5. We need to line up a few hundred strong, both sides of an aisle, and urge you to walk through as we thank you for your care and effort.

I, personally, thank you for liking my poem Love Song To The Poet. I also urge you to go back and look for my poem Obsession. I have been a sponsor in the twelve step community, and a recoveree (pan addicted). This poem is about mental health and how it is going when it is not going well.

    Thank you so much.

  6. I like what you are doing. I have been through depression, and have a lot of friends who are still dealing with problems. It’s good to see a community where people can share.

      1. Thank you, Paul. I will keep that in mind. There is one I wrote recently about depression. I’ll revisit it and send it over for you to have a look at.

  8. Thank you for this wonderful set of resources. It’s nice to know people are out there spreading the word, when sometimes I’m too scared to leave my bed, let alone explain things.

    Thanks.
